"The last act is bloody, however pleasant all the rest of the play is: a little earth is thrown at last upon our head, and that is the end forever."

Ashonté S. Lyles

She is a published writer, poet, spoken word artist, blogger, freelance columnist, and content creator. Her heart is in the freedom of poetry and flash fiction. Since her earliest years, she has enjoyed creating stories from her life experiences and documenting her life and those around her.

Ashonté's travel and culture blog, "The Horizon Calls | Let’s GEAUX," takes readers on a journey through the mosaic of her life's travels, which began in the Gentilly Faubourg of the Seventh Ward in New Orleans, Louisiana. At one year old, she and her family moved to Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base in Oceanside, California, and as the Sam Cooke song goes, she "was born by the river... and just like the river, been running ever since.”

Currently, she and her husband, Marlon, are coauthoring a book working title “The Come Up!" It is dubbed the Green Book guide to financial freedom, especially for people who were never handed a roadmap; those excluded from wealth.

In June 2024, the story of Ashonté and Marlon's partnership in business and life, "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, Forever," by Ashonté S. Lyles, was published in the anthology "MomPreneur: Raising Businesses and Babies," by Dr. Ariel Shaw, MBA, and the women of Southern Crescent Women in Business (SCWIB).

Her poems “Dear Black Man” and The Day Tasted Like Beignets” are in SCWIB Magazine on Medium. Her spoken word poem “Got My Beats” appears on Pablo Ali’s Mixed Tape, and she has performed pieces such as “Mardi Gras Eve” and “Raised by Unicorns, Vampires and Warrior Kings” in multimedia projects.

Her flash fiction story, "When the Street Lights Come On," is published in Dr. Colin Harris’ Star Apple Creative Group “Sacrise Magazine.”
